DEATH

 

The death has taken place of Peggy O’Connell, nee Scanlon in Altrincham, Cheshire,

 

UK and late of Moher, Moyvane, on Wednesday, May 13 2026 in her 98th year. Peggy was

 

the wife of the late Eddie O’Connell whose brother was Michael O’Connell, Ahalahanna,

 

Moyvane. Her parents were the late Matthew Scanlon and Margaret Fennell Scanlon.

 

She is also predeceased by her brother, Daniel and sister, Catherine. Peggy is sadly

 

missed by her daughter, Margaret, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and friends.

 

Requiem Mass for Peggy will be celebrated at 11.00am at St. Hugh and St. John RC

 

Church, West Timperley and will be laid to rest afterwards in Dunham Lawn Cemetery,

 

Altrincham. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Survived by his wife Thérèse, son Maurice, daughters Norma (Ballybunion), Myra (Ballybunion), Michelle (Knocknagoshel) and Delia (Dublin), grandfather to grandchildren Daithí, Luke, Máire and Holly, and his brother Tom. Predeceased by his parents Mossie and Nóra, and his sister Bríd Moynihan. Fondly remembered by his sons-in-law David Tyrrell and Scott Berry, brothers-in-law Fr. Tim Cullinane SMA and Timmy Moynihan, sisters-in-law Margaret Keane, Marie Collins and Patricia McGillycuddy, niece Noreen Keane, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

 

DEATH of Betty Redmond (née Nolan) (Ballinteer, Dublin and formerly of Castleplunkett, and Moyvane,) on May 5th, 2026. Wife of the late Thomas Redmond and predeceased by son Gerard and brother John Nolan.

DEATH of Mary Kelliher  (née Enright), Lartigue Village, Clieveragh, Listowel and formerly of Moyvane, on April 17th, 2026, wife of the late Moss. Mary is survived by her sons Maurice and John, her grandchildren Sive and Ailbhe, brother Joe, sister Margaret, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, and nieces. Funeral arrived at  St. Mary's Church, Listowel on Tuesday morning for the Requiem Mass for Mary, followed by burial afterwards in St. John Paul II Cemetery, Listowel.

 

DEATH of Dympna O'Connell, Rathfarnham, Dublin / Dalkey, Dublin / Moyvane on 15th April 2026

 

 Sister of the late Maighread (McCarthy), Kitty, Maisie, Jo (Fenelon), Bess (McCarthy), Maurice and Anna (O’Reilly). Dympna will be sadly missed by her nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, extended family and friends. Dympna worked at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine.  Funeral Mass on Monday (20th April) at 10am in the Church of the Divine Word, Marley Grange followed by burial in St. Michael's Cemetery, Listowel, Co. Kerry arriving at 4pm approximately.

 

DEATH of John Nash, Glenshesk, Templeglantine, and formerly of Birmingham, England, passed away on Tuesday, 6th January 2026. Predeceased by his sister Mary Theresa.

 

John is sadly missed by his sons Mason and Conor and their mother Keely, parents Nuala and John, partner Zoe, brother Maurice, aunts, and uncles. Removal on Tuesday, 13th January to The Church of The Most Holy Trinity Templeglantine for Requiem Mass. Interment afterwards in the adjoining Reilig na Tríonóide. He has many relations in the parish.

DEATH of Catherine (Kitty) Kissane (née Mulvihill), Tarmons West, Tarbert and late of Aughrim, Moyvane, on January 28th, 2026. Pre-deceased by her husband Paddy, parents Paddy and Margaret, brothers Tom and Jimmy. Kitty will be remembered by her daughter Margaret, sons Joe, Patrick (Pat) and Brendan, son-in-law Seán, daughters-in-law Mary and Breda, her  grandchildren Eoghan, Mairéad, Fionán, Caitríona, Daragh, Amy, Jack and Pádraig, sisters Peggy Leahy (Offaly) and Eileen McCaghy (Dublin), sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.

DEATH of Noreen (Nora) Mahony (née King) of Coolkeragh, Listowel, died on 15th January 2026, wife of the late John and mother of Marie (Lynch), Frank, Michael, Bill, Gretta, Rosarie (Lyons), Kathleen, Jer and Tim and mother-in-law of the late Margaret Fitzgerald and grandmother of the late Brendan.

 

Survived by her loving family, her 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sons-in-law Mike and Richard, daughters-in-law Kathleen & Aileen.

 

 Funeral arrived at St. Teresa’s Church, Ballydonoghue on Monday morning at where the Requiem Mass for Noreen was celebrated. Interment afterwards in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Listowel.

 

DEATH of Donal O’Connor, Tarbert Island, Tarbert and formerly of Main Street, Ballylongford, on January 19th 2026. Donal is predeceased by his wife Bríd (nee Stack of Carrueragh, Kilmorna), his parents John and Elizabeth (nee Langan) and his brother Anthony. Donal will be missed by his daughters Elizabeth, Marie and Edel, his brother Ted, his sisters Kathleen (Galvin) and Ann (Stack), his special friend Helen Murphy, sons-in-law, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, relatives, neighbours, a large circle of friends and our community who are greatly saddened to realise, that the torch that illuminated our path, into past history and folklore is now extinguished. Donal’s Funeral Cortege will depart Tarbert Island on Saturday morning January 24th to arrive at St. Mary’s Church, Tarbert for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. DEATH of Patrick (Pa) O’Dwyer of Rathkeale, formerly Rooska East, Carrigkerry, known as “the Limerick Lion”, died suddenly on January 3rd, aged 40,

 

UK's and Ireland’s strongest man was one of many titles he held but his most important and his most proud title was 'dad’, he said.

 

DEATH of John Moynihan, Derrymore East, Tralee, on 2nd January 2026, husband of Margaret (née O' Connell) and Dad of Tomás and Maurice and Grandy to Sadhbh, Fiadh and Laoise. John gave 30 years of his life teaching in St Michael’s College in Listowel. His funeral held at St Brendan’s Church in Tralee on Tuesday.

DEATH of Rev. Fr. Joseph Nolan, Farnastack, Lisselton and late of Ashfield, Listowel and Our Lady of Fatima Home, Tralee, on December 26th, 2025. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Josie, sisters Elaine, Irene and Marianne (Molly) and his infant brother Con. Rev. Fr. Joseph will be missed by his brother Con, sister-in-law Maureen, nephew John, nieces Siobhan, Mary, Elaine, Louise and Sarah, grandnephews, grandnieces, Bishop Ray and The Clergy of the Kerry Diocese, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends. Fr. Joseph Nolan was Parish Priest in Moyvane – Knockanure from 1998 to 2001.

 

Funeral arriving to St. Teresa's Church, Ballydonoghue, on Monday with the Requiem Mass for Rev. Fr. Joseph being celebrated, followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining St. Teresa's Church grounds. His ancestors are buried in Knockanure Old Churchyard. Fr Joseph was born at Lisselton on 17/08/1932 to John & Johanna (nee Kennelly) Nolan, Ordained 17/06/ 1956. Served 1956- Salford, 1957- Mission to Emigrants Westminister, 1958 North Hampton, 1962 Diocesan Inspector of Schools. 1963, Studied in Rome, 1966, Professor at All Hallows, 1971 Professor in Maynooth, 1975 C.C. Abbeydorney, 1986,  P.P. Dromid; 1989- P P Abbeydorney, 1997 Assistant Priest San Francisco, 1998, PP Moyvane and retired 2001. He was much involve in the production of the Knockanure/ Moyvane Boro and the Cross book.

 

DEATH of Bridie O'Halloran (née McEnery), Lacca East, Kilmorna, and formerly of Kilconlea, Abbeyfeale, on December 27th, 2025, wife of the late Paddy and sister of the late Jamsie.
