DEATH: Maura Naughton (née Barry) Greystones, Limerick / Clare / Moyvane. Late of Knockanure, Moyvane, Survived by her husband Pat, sons Gerard & Patrick, daughter-in-law Margaret, granddaughters Ella & Zara, brother Stephen, sister Noreen, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Requiem Mass for Maura Naughton was celebrated at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Ennis Road on Thursday (Dec. 21st) after Mass Maura was laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Foynes.

 

DEATH: Elizabeth (Lila) Carroll née O' Sullivan, Listowel, Died 19th December 2017. Thousands attended her funeral in Listowel, as everybody knew her.

DEATH; Tom Flaherty, Coil, Listowel, died December 13th 2017 at his daughter Mary's residence. Husband of the late Mary. Survived by daughter Mary, sons Maurice and Morgan, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and granddaughters Marie and Caroline, nephew, and nieces.  Requiem Mass was celebrated for Tom Flaherty on Saturday, December 16th, St. Theresa's Church, Ballydonoghue, with burial afterwards in St. Michael's Cemetery, Listowel.

 

DEATH has taken place of Nora Kennelly (nee Hudson), Pallas, Listowel, Co. Kerry and formerly of Kilbaha, Moyvane on December 10th, 2017. Nora, predeceased her son Neilus (Con) and her grandson Fiontan, survived by her husband Matthew, her son Ned, her daughters Mary, Siobhan, and Anne, daughters-in-law Anne Marie and Sinéad, sons-in-law John, Joe, and Ciaran, grandchildren, her brother William, sisters-in-law Mary, Elaine, and Mary, nieces and nephews.

 

Requiem Mass for Nora Kennelly was celebrated on Wednesday, the 13th of December at Irremore Church, followed by burial afterwards in Kilshenane Cemetery.

 

DEATH of John Broderick of Coolnaleen, Listowel on the 9th of December, 2017. Pre-deceased by his wife Sheila Stokes, and brothers Anthony and Danny, and sister Mary Horgan. Survived by son Joseph (Clonmel) and Declan, and daughters Katherina and Eilish, his daughter-in-law Elaine, sons-in-law Stephen and Jack, grandchildren, brother Bernard, sister Nora Sheehan. Requiem Mass for John was celebrated on the 12th of December at St. Mary's Church, Listowel, followed by burial afterwards in St. John Paul II Cemetery, Ballybunion Road, Listowel.

DEATH The death has occurred of Sheila Nash of Gortdromagouna, Knockanure. She will be sadly missed by her loving daughters, Julian, Philomena, Mairead (Carey, Muckross, Killarney) and son Joseph (Bantry) grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Abbie, son-in-law Michael, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours. Requiem Mass for Sheila Nash was celebrated at Corpus Christi Church, Knockanure on Saturday. Celebrants were Fr. McNamara, P.P., assisted by Fr. Nolan, Fr. McMahon and Fr. O’Callaghan. Mary Mulvihill sang the hymns. Sheila (born 1931) was laid to rest afterwards at the old cemetery, Knockanure. All her siblings, Moss, Bill, Ned, Jim, Pat, Maud, Kit and Bridget predeceased her. Their parents were Paddy Nash and Margaret Moore.

 

 SYMPATHY:  To Terry Dunne of Holly’s Gala on the death of his mother Pauline whose funeral took place in Dublin recently.

DEATH: James McCarthy, Knocknacaheragh, Kilmorna, died on the 24th of November, 2017, survived by his brothers Tom and Denis, sisters Hannah, Noreen, and Mary, nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces. Requiem Mass for Jimmy McCarthy was celebrated at Duagh Church on 27th November followed by burial in Springmount Cemetery, Duagh.

 

DEATH has taken place of Ellen (Nell) O'Carroll (née Flynn) of Killelton, Ballylongford and formerly of Kilbaha, Moyvane. Nell died on Sunday afternoon 26th day of November 2017. Pre deceased by her  husband Johnny. Nell was mother of Jim, Nora, Eugene and Ellen, also survived by  sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandson, nieces, and  nephews.

 

Requiem Mass for Nell O’Carroll was Wednesday morning with funeral immediately afterwards to Lislaughtin Abbey, Ballylongford. Nell was daughter of Eugene Flynn and Kate Keane of Kilbaha, Moyvane. Her sister Maureen Fitzmaurice died on the 21st of November, 2017.

 

DEATH of Birdie Johanna Ahern,  (nee Guiry) Gortnagross, Athea, on November 30th 2017, wife of the late Denny (Blacksmith).mother of sons Tom, Jim and Mick, daughters Mary (Tola Park, Shannon), Margaret McCarthy (Killarney).

 

DEATH has taken place of Michael Joseph Hogan, Mullenmeehan, Ballymore, and formerly of London & Lissaniska, Killimor, Co. Galway, November 30th 2017. Michael Joseph, husband of the late Henrietta. Survived by his son Brendan (Moyvane), Daughter Celene (Devon, England), his Sisters Kay & Rena and his late Sister Maureen, daughter-in-law Brigitte (Moyvane), son-in-law Gordon Goodall, grandchildren Luke, Cleo and Conor( Moyvane), great-grandchildren Imojen and James.

 

SYMPATHY to Ashling Reidy (who works at O’Riordan’s Pharmacy in Athea) on the recent sudden death of her father Liam Stirrat from Scotstown in Co. Monaghan. Liam, played for and managed the Monaghan GAA Team.

DEATH has occurred of Maureen Fitzmaurice (née Flynn) Gortdromasillihy, Moyvane.   

Maureen died at Oaklands Nursing Home, on the 21st of November, 2017. Predeceased by her loving husband Paddy and baby son Gerard. (Loving mother of Bridie O'Sullivan (Beaufort), sons Sean and Gene, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, sister Nell, grandchildren and great-granddaughter, nieces and nephews. Requiem Mass for Maureen was celebrated by Fr. Kevin assisted by Fr. Brendan on Friday, the 24th of November, at Knockanure Church, followed by burial afterwards in Ahavoher Cemetery, Moyvane. Hymns were sung by Maureen’s granddaughter Catriona Fitzmaurice and music was by Aidan O’Carroll. Maureen was daughter of Mr and Mrs Eugene Flynn of Kilbaha, she was born in 1923 and started work at 14 in the bakery in Moyvane, she next moved to Sgt Sheehy and family, later to O’Callaghan’s, then to Harahan’s and O’Connell’s. Maureen married Paddy Fitzmaurice a well-known musician in 1949.

               

 

DEATH took place of Pat Martin (Tieraclea, Tarbert, and formerly of Marian Place, Glin, on November 20th 2017 (tragically following an accident). Son of Anne and the late Billy, Survived by his wife Caroline, mother Anne, sons James and Nathan, daughter Samantha, brothers Billy, Gerard and Joe, sisters Jackie, Claire and Georgina, father-in-law Gabriel, mother-in-law Patricia, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grand-uncle, grand-aunt, cousins, relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends.

DEATH: Eileen Vines (née Collins), Blessington, Co. Wicklow.  Her funeral was in Blessington recently. Eileen was Sister-in-law of Mary Collins at Moyvane Post Office.

Son of the late Luke and Barbara Connor (Galway). Brother of James and his wife Mary (both deceased) and Patricia Uí Bhrádaigh and her late husband Ruairi, in-laws Eileen & Paudie Hanrahan, John & Mary Stack, Maurice & Betsy Stack, Eddie & Mary Stack and their families.

 

Requiem Mass for Robert was celebrated on Wednesday, at Corpus Christi Church, Knockanure.  Celebrants were Fr. McNamara, Fr. Nolan and Fr. O’Callaghan. Gerard and Stephen Donegan, sang the hymns. Robert was born in 1938, went to USA 55 years ago and married Marie in 1965.

 

DEATH took place on the 11th of November 2017 of Elizabeth O'Connor (née Sheehy)

 

Irish Islandganniv, Greenville, Listowel. Pre-deceased by her husband Timothy, sisters Bridie (2014), Sheila (died 2000), Sr. Claude Died 2003) and Sr. Anne, brothers Patrick and John,(Died 2007). Survived by her daughters, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, in-laws, nephews, and nieces. Requiem Mass for Elizabeth O’Connor was celebrated on 13th November, in St. Mary's Church, Listowel. Burial afterwards in Knockanure Old Cemetery. Elizabeth was daughter of James Sheehy and Kathleen Sullivan of Aughrim, Moyvane.

 

DEATH: Tom Barrett of Knockdown has passed away recently at Southgate, London, whose funeral took place in England on Fri 17th. November 2017.  Sympathies to all the Barrett and Sheahan families. Tom was son of late Tom and Catherine Barrett of Knockdown. His Siblings include, the late Patrick (died USA 2012), Joe Barrett Knockanure, Bernadette Dalton Glin, Phil Fealey Ballybunion, Denis USA, Jet, Ben, and Moss Barrett.

MASS FOR ROAD TRAFFIC VICTIMS:  World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is on Saturday, November 18 and Mass in Abbeyfeale will be celebrated for all those who have lost their lives at 7pm. To mark this day Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, Listowel on Sunday 19th November at 9am.

DEATH: Ellen Orman nee Kennelly of Caheranne Village, Tralee, Co. Kerry and formerly San Antonio, Texas and Finuge, Lixnaw, (peacefully on 23rd October 2017 in the loving care of the Incarnate Word Sisters, nurses & staff at Carrigoran House, Newmarket-on-Fergus), beloved wife of the late Warren and dear sister of Sr. Imelda (Moore Abbey, Monasterevin) & Jim (Bayonne, New Jersey). Sadly missed by her loving family, her stepson Stan, stepdaughter Kaye, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives and many friends.

 

Reposing at The Gleasure Funeral Home, Tralee on Thursday from 7 to 8 pm. Removal at 8 pm to Irremore Church, Listowel, arriving at 8.30 pm. Requiem Mass on Friday at 11.30 am. Interment afterwards in Kilfeighney Cemetery, Lixnaw.

TREE of Remembrance will be on the Sanctuary for the month of the Holy Souls, you are invited to place the names of your deceased relatives on it.  Tags are available.  

 

DEATH: John Gerard McMahon, Carrueragh, Kilmorna, better known as Sean Nolan. Died peacefully in Oaklands Nursing Home. Sadly missed by his cousins Willie, George, Eileen, Monica and their families. Requiem Mass for Sean was celebrated on 30th October 2017 at Knockanure Church. Celebrants Fr. Kevin P.P. assisted by Fr. Brendan and Fr. Tom, Stevie Donegan provided the music. Burial afterwards in the Old Cemetery, Knockanure.

 

DEATH took place On October 29th, 2017 of Sr. Jarlath Kerrisk, Presentation Convent, Lixnaw, and formerly of Gortalassa, Firies, Dingle and Cork.

 

DEATH has occurred of James Moody of 23 Woodgrove, Moyvane. Formerly of Killmeady and England. James died on the 28th of October at his home. Sadly missed by his loving wife Betty, sisters Margaret and Mary, nephews and nieces, relatives, neighbours, and friends.

 

Requiem Mass for James was celebrated on Wednesday, the 1st of November at Corpus Christi Church, Knockanure.

REQUIEM Mass for Eddie Costelloe who died in England in May 2017 and his wife Mary nee Fitzgerald a native of Islandanny, she died in March 2017,was celebrated at Knockanure Church on 24th October 2017 by Fr. Kevin P.P. assisted by Fr. Tom and Fr. Brendan. Mary Mulvihill sang the hymns. Eddie was son of Jack Costelloe and Julia Stack of Trien Kilmorna. Siblings of Eddie included Mary, Paddy, and Billy, his brother Jack, sister Peg and Ann survive him.   They both lived in England for many years in Milton Keyes and Watford. Mary Fitzgerald was daughter of Moss Fitzgerald and Liz Barry and had siblings Jack, Hannie and Nora Ann. Following mass the ashes of Eddie and Mary were taken to the Family Grave in Old Knockanure Churchyard. Their children Eddie, Dawn and Caron survive them.

Tom was born in 1926 son of Pat Flavin and Margaret Keane, and his siblings included, Batt, Pat, Michael, Ciss, Nan and Nell. Requiem Mass was celebrated by Fr. Kevin P.P., assisted by Fr. Tom McMahon and Fr. Pat Scannell. Music and singing was by Ann, Maria and Mary. Tom was a Pioneer since 1950 and was involved in almost all organisations in the parish. The GAA provided a guard of Honour in memory of Toms’ contribution to the organisation.

Bill Dowd of Ballydonoghue and Pittsburg passes away on Monday, October 02, 2017

 

William "Bill" Dowd, Age 94, of Shaler Township, formerly of Penn Hills, peacefully on Monday October 2, 2017 with his children at his side.  Bill was born and raised in Ballydonoghue, County Kerry, Ireland in 1923.   After spending time in County Kildare cutting peat and as a coal miner in Sheffield, England, he came to the United States in 1949 and was welcomed by his cousin Molly (Dowd) Devine and her family in Pittsburgh. Bill was a player and faithful long-time supporter of the Pittsburgh Gaelic Athletic Association and a proud 60-year member of the Plumbers Laborers' Union. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Grills) Dowd; loving father of Tom (Maria) Dowd, Kathy (John) O'Connor, Mary Beth (Dean) Reynolds, and the late Jack Dowd;  cherished grandfather of Michelle (Brad) Tresky, Katie (Brendan) Dowd-Dusette, Kevin, Deirdre, and Ryan Dowd, Sinead, Ciara, and Sean O'Connor,  Laura (Tyler) Tarney, and Dean and Brennan Reynolds; proud great-grandfather of Kaelyn, Liam, Ciara, Meghan, Keagan, Maggie, and soon-to-be baby Tarney.  Dear brother of the late Tom, Jack, and Jim Dowd.  Also survived by nieces and nephews in Pittsburgh, Ireland, and England. GRAVEYARD MASS: Great crowds attended the graveyard Mass in the Parish last week. Thanks to all the helpers and volunteers, who put in many hours work, they are a credit, to the Christian spirit of the parish. Thanks to Fr. Kevin, Fr. Tom, Fr. Brendan and Fr. Dan who celebrated the masses. Thanks to the choirs who added greatly to the occasion and the hundreds who came to remember their dead.

 

SYMPATHY to the Riordan Family of Moyvane South on the death of Betty Griffin (nee Riordan) who died recently in the USA. 

 

DEATH took place on August 10th 2017 of Mick Moore Tarmon's East and Ballinol, Moyvane, husband of the late Maureen; survived by nephews and nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

 

Requiem Mass for Mick Moore was celebrated on Saturday, 12th August at St Mary’s Church Tarbert. Burial afterwards in St Mary's Cemetery, Tarbert.

DEATH took place on 26th July 2017 of Mary Holly, (nee Holly) Ahanagran, Ballylongford and formerly of Tarmons, Tarbert. Wife of the late Thomas and mother of Patrick, Marian, Sinead, Helen, Lucy, Denis, John Martin, Thomas Michael and her angels in heaven Margaret-Teresa and Teresa. Deeply regretted by her sister-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, cousins, nephews and nieces. Requiem Mass for Mary Holly was celebrated at  St. Michael's Church, Ballylongford on Saturday, the 29th of July, followed by burial afterwards in Lislaughtin Abbey.

 

DEATH has taken place of  John Stack, The Height, Duagh. Who died on July 23rd 2017.

 

DIED 25 July 2017; Margaret Bergmann Lambert, a high jumper who was barred from the 1936 Berlin Olympics because she was Jewish, died in New York age 103.

 

DEATH took place on 24th July 2017 of Bobby Horgan, Robertstown, Foynes, Survived by his wife Anne, son Robert, daughter Carol and her Partner Thomas, grandson James, daughter-in-law Marika, mother-in-law Anna, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, nephews and nieces. DEATH has taken Place in her 100th year, of Mary Stack of Glenalappa West, Moyvane. Mary is survived by sisters, Hannah and Teresa and brother Tim, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews and nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, great-grand-nephews, great-grand-nieces, Requiem mass for Mary was celebrated by Fr. McNamara and Fr. Finan on Friday 19th May 2017 at The Church of the Assumption, Moyvane.  Burial afterwards in Murhur Cemetery, Moyvane. Mary was daughter of Pat Stack and Margaret Flaherty. Mary was of a family of 11. Her siblings include Bridie, Tim, Teresa, Mike, Pat, Jim, Nora, Richard, Hannah and John.

 

DEATH has occurred of Francis Brosnan of Lacca East, Kilmorna, at Aras Mhuire Nursing Home, Listowel. Deeply regretted by his wife Nancy, family and friends. Requiem Mass for Francis took place on Friday 19th May 2017 at Listowel Church. Burial afterwards in St. John Paul II Cemetery, Listowel. Francis died on 16th of May.

DEATH: Michael Andrew Beasley O' Flaherty of East End, Ballybunion passed away on the 8th of May, 2017 at Cork University Hospital. Requiem Mass was celebrated on Saturday, the 13th of May at St. John's Church, Ballybunion, followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

DEATH: Padraig (Paud) Culhane was born in Leitrim Middle, Moyvane in 1929. Son of John and Margaret. Went to Birmingham in the post war years and was a Bus Driver. He married Kathleen Carroll from Kiltimagh Mayo. They went on to have 4 children; Mary, Margaret, John and Eugene. Throughout his life Paud was a regular visitor to Moyvane visiting his family and his old friends and neighbours. His last visit home was in July 2016. Paud enjoyed A life blessed by family including 11 grandchildren and many good friends. He died in hospital in Birmingham. He will be received into St Dunstan’s Church Kings Heath Birmingham on Thursday 11th May 2017 at 6.00pm. Requiem Mass to be held on Friday 12th May at 11am followed by burial at Brandwood End cemetery.

DEATH has taken place of Rev. Fr. Pat Moore, Littor Road, Asdee. Former parish priest of Duagh and many other parishes. Died on May 1st 2017,  son of the late Mick and Peg. Survived by his brothers Diarmuid and Michael, sisters in law Jacintha and Geraldine, nephews Shane, Michael, Gearoid and Conor, niece Cliona, relatives, neighbours and many friends including Bishop Ray Browne, fellow priests and many parishioners of his former diocese. Born in 1957, ordained in 1982, 1987 was director Primary religious Education, was appointed parish priest Duagh in 2004. His father was a native of Moyvane. The Choir Gallery in Asdee was full for his requiem Mass which was attended by about 60 priests and several bishops and a huge congregation, who were, both inside and outside the church. Requiem Mass was on Thursday, May 4th at 11am with burial afterwards in Aghavallen Cemetery, Ballylongford. Bishop Ray said the prayers at the graveside  and sang the Salve Regina with his fellow priests.

Husband of the late Breda, son of the late Eamon and Noreen and brother of the late Kieran. DEATH of Nora M. Cronin, 70, of Scranton, daughter of the late Denis and Bridget Donaghue Neville died Wednesday 19 April 2017 at Moses Taylor Hospital. She was the widow of John Cronin, who died April 26, 2008. "Nodie" left Ballylongford at the age of 19. Surviving are a son, Johnny Cronin and partner, Sarah McGrath, a daughter, Breeda Holmes and husband, Jake, Throop; three grandchildren, Jacob, Caitlin and Jack Holmes; two sisters, Margaret Cunningham, Matamoras; and Kitty Hanrahan, two brothers, Paudie Neville, New York; and Sean Neville. Nodie was preceded by her sister, Nancy Neville.

 

DEATH of Fr. John Lucid, Parish Priest Kilcummin, Killarney, and native of Meanus, Castleisland, suddenly, on Easter Sunday, April 16th 2017. Survived by his brothers Richard (Ashbourne) and Bill (Castleisland), sister-in-law Joan, nephews, nieces, relatives, many friends, along with Bishop Ray Browne, fellow priests of the Diocese, parishioners of Kilcummin and the other parishes in which he previously ministered. Fr. John R.I.P.  Reposed in the Kilcummin Parish Centre on Wednesday evening from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, followed by removal to the adjoining Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Requiem Mass on Thursday at 11am. Burial afterwards in the church grounds. Over 50 priests and hundreds of friends and relations attended the Requiem Mass. Fr. Lucid was 12 years in the parish of Moyvane and Knockanure, he baptised 255, was at funerals of 238 parishioners and celebrated 142 weddings. Canon O’Connor complemented him for his help in the Listowel pastoral Area. When Fr. John arrived here, he cycled all over the parish to meet the people and was always helpful to the Board of Management at the schools. He studied at the Irish College in Rome, served in Milltown, Firies, Westminister, Annascaul, Kenya, Wales, Caherciveen, Caherdaniel, Moyvane and Kilcummin.

DEATH of James Danaher of Knocknaboula, Foynes, on March 28th, 2017. Survived by his wife Patricia nee Goulding, son Dan, daughters Marie, Evelyn, and Karina, sister Lil, daughter-in-law Siobhán, son-in-law Hugh, grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

DEATH has occurred of Tom Moore (New York), Glin Road, Moyvane. Tom died on the 21st of March, 2017. Survived by his brother Jack, sister Breda, nieces and nephews. Requiem Mass for Tom Moore was celebrated in Moyvane Church on the 29th of March, followed by burial afterwards in the old cemetery, Knockanure. Tom went to New York in 1963 and made many trips home over the years.

DEATH took place of Fr. Stephen (Steve) Kennelly (Lislaughtin, Ballylongford, on Friday 10th of March 2017. Survived by sister Mai, brothers David, Pat and Eddie and sister-in-laws Mary and Noreen, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and neighbours. Requiem Mass at Ballylongford Church for Fr. Stephen Kennelly on Tuesday morning, March 14th, at 11am and burial afterwards in the church grounds.

 

DEATH has taken place of Most Rev. Eamonn Casey, Galway on 13th March 2017.

Bishop Emeritus of Galway and Kilmacduagh. Survived by his son Peter, his brother, Fr. Michael (Perth), sister, Ita (Furlong), sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and their extended families, Most Rev. Martin Drennan, Bishop Emeritus of Galway and Kilmacduagh, Canon Michael McLoughlin, Diocesan Administrator and the clergy, religious and faithful people of the Dioceses of Limerick, Kerry, Galway, Kilmacduagh and Kilfenora. Eamonn Casey was born 1927, son of John Casey and Helena Shanahan, Ordained 1951, Curate in Limerick, Chaplain in Slough, Founder of Catholic housing Agency, Retreat Master, Trustee of Shelter, Founder of Marian Employment Agency . In Oct. ’72 he chaired discussion on mental health in Killarney, Buchanan Report in April ’73, he made a wide ranging statement on it.  Also in ’73 he made a Peace Pilgrimage to Mount Brandon. At Comhaltas dinner in Feb. ‘74 he commended them for the handling of the Fleadh in Listowel. In April 1976 he was utterly disappointed at Irish government refusal to give assistance to newly arrived emigrants to England. His involvement with Trocaire and clash with American government,

DEATH Ardagh, report from Tom Ahern: The death has taken place of Kevin Magee, Beechwood House Nursing Home, Newcastle West and formerly of the Glebe, Ardagh on February 14. 2017 Kevin, pre-deceased by his wife Maura (nee Sheehan), sisters Theresa, Maura and Kathleen, and brother Pearse. Kevin was 98 years old and the Life President of Fianna Fáil Cumman Ardagh. He came to Ardagh Railway Station from Castleconnell as a porter and graduated to Station Master. When the Railway era ended he founded the Glebe Printing Press, which was located in the Station building next to his house in Ardagh.   He printed Posters for all political parties, dance tickets, bill heads, invoice books, etc., and he was a real gentleman to deal with. Kevin was very involved in the Church and parish duties, and he collected the offerings in the church and was a member of the counting team afterwards.  He stood at all charity collections as well as the FF Collection, and he was involved in the Bingo in Ardagh which raised a lot of money for the parish renovation fund.

 

Kevin and his late wife (Maura Sheehan sister of Mossy RIP from the Devon Inn Hotel) kept a beautiful landscaped garden which was much admired until they retired to Templeglantine around ten years ago.

DEATH occurred on 11th February 2017 of Margaret Peggy Higgins (née Fitzgerald) Trien, Kilmorna. Peggy, late of Trieneragh, Duagh. Survived by her son Martin, sisters Marie and Joan, brothers Danny and Martin, grandchildren, Michael, Martina and Christopher, nieces and nephews,

 

 Requiem mass for Peggy Higgins was celebrated at Knockanure Church on Tuesday by Fr. Kevin assisted by Fr. Tom. Margaret Carroll sang the hymns and played the guitar. Family and friends gave moving tributes and remembrances.  Burial of Peggy Higgins afterwards at Ahavoher Cemetery, Knockanure.

 

DEATH has taken place of Bridget Softley, she was daughter of Tim Sugrue of Tralee and Margaret Kennelly of Knockanure, the funeral in St Elizabeth's Church, The Vineyard Richmond Tues 21st at 11am.February 2017. Her mother died in 1926, aged 40. Her father Tim J Sugrue, won a county football championship medal with Mitchell’s in 1902, they lived at 54 Church Street.

DIED; Rebecca Roche passed away on the 15th of January, 2017 (New York and formerly of Carrigcannon, Lyreacrompane). Deeply regretted by her loving brothers Jimmy (Lyreacrompane) and Joe (New Jersey), sisters Mary (New York) and Sr. Elizabeth (England), brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, grand nephews and grandnieces. Buried Lyre 15th 2 2017.

DEATH has occurred of Mary Nolan (née Whelan) Glenalappa, Moyvane, and late of Sleaveen, Ballyduff. Mary died on the 21st of January, 2017. Predeceased by her parents Jeremiah and Hannah Whelan, her sister Eileen, and brothers Martin and John. Survived by her husband Connie, brother Pat, brother-in-law Billy and Con Frank Collins, sisters-in-law Violet and Moira, nieces and nephews. Requiem mass for Mary Nolan on Monday, the 23rd of January at 12 noon in Moyvane Church, followed by burial afterwards in Ahavoher Cemetery. Mass was celebrated by Fr. Kevin P.P. assisted by Canon O’Connor, Fr. O’Callaghan and Fr. McMahon. 

 

Sympathy to Pat and Bridget Dalton on the death of Pat’s mother Hannie Dalton, Glenbawn, recently. Month’s mind mass was celebrated in Athea Church on 26th Jan. 2017 for the late John Hanrahan (formerly of Lower Dirreen and brother of Dan, Helen and Mary, who died recently in England

 

Death of  Eileen (Eily) Sheahan, nee O’Sullivan, from Glenmore West Strand in her 97th year on January 18 2017, buried in St Ita’s Cemetery Killeedy, survived by sons Pat,  Seamus, Denis, John, Francis, Joe, Gerard, Willie, daughters in law, son in law, grandchildren, great grandchildren.

 

 The death has occurred of Nora Quilligan (née Enright), Caherdavin Heights, Limerick. Formerly of Elm Park, Ennis Road and Dirreen, Athea. Nora died (suddenly, in her 90th year). Wife of the late Michael, mother of Tom, Richard, Marie (McElhinney) & Michael. Nora Died 22nd January 2017.

The death took place of Josephine Josie Brassil (née Hanrahan), Tarmons Hill, on 11th January 2017.

 

DEATH has occurred of Siobhan (Josephine) Sugrue (née Kirby), Blackrock, and Moyvane.

 

Died on January 10th 2017, wife of John, mother of Janet, Kerry, Henry and Joanne. Survived by her husband, children, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, her sister Bridie, brothers Jim and John.

 

DEATH: The death has occurred of Kathleen O'Connor (née Stack) The Hill, Knockanure. Wife of the late Jim and sister of the late Willie, Timmy, Dolly, Mai, and Margaret Stack. Survived by her sons Jerry, Edward, and James, sister-in-law Kathleen Stack, daughters-in-law Louise, Mary, and Martina, granddaughters Aoife, Tara, and Niamh, nephews and nieces. Kathleen born 1924, was daughter of Edmond Stack and Bridget O’Hanlon of the Hill, Moyvane. She married Jim in 1956. Requiem Mass for Kathleen was celebrated on the 12th of January at Corpus Christi Church, Knockanure, followed by burial in Ahavoher Cemetery.  Mass was celebrated by Fr. Kevin McNamara our Parish Priest assisted by Fathers Tom McMahon, Brendan O’Callaghan, Liam Keane and Tom Healy (from Longford).Stephen Donegan, sang the hymns and played the organ. While mass was being celebrated, the church was glowing with the lovely sunshine, through the windows. But as soon as the coffin was removed from the hearse for burial, an unmerciful shower of hailstones and wind, tested the resolve of all of us at the graveside.

 

DEATH on 12th January 2017, of Noreen O’Connor, nee Larkin, Kilbaha who passed away in her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband Willie (who died in 1966), daughter Angela and grandson Darragh, sister Mary and brother Sean. Survived by her daughters, Mary, Patricia, Kay, Teresa, and Geraldine and her son John, her brother Fr. Paddy Larkin, Kansas, sons-in-law, Tony, Micheál, Seán, John (Gunn) and John (Fitzgerald) and daughter-in-law Eileen, sister-in-law Moira and brother-in-law Connie, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. Requiem Mass on Sunday at 11am in Moyvane Church for Noreen, was celebrated by Fr. Kevin assisted by Fr. Tom and Fr. Brendan. The Mulvihill Family and friends provided the music. Interment afterwards in Ahavoher Cemetery, Moyvane. Noreen was daughter of Jack Larkin and Kathleen Culhane of Carraueragh, Knockanure.
