DEATH of Breda Moore (née O'Sullivan), Cahirdown, Listowel and formerly of Coilbee, Listowel, on December 24th, 2025. Predeceased by her husband Michael, her infant daughter Elizabeth, granddaughter Fiona and her siblings Bill, Michael and Kathleen. Breda will be sadly missed by her daughter Catherine, sons Noel, Martin and Conor, her grandchildren Killian, Áine, Ciara, Eoin, Ruth, Mark, Emily and Jack, sisters Maureen and Nellie, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Funeral arriving to St. Mary's Church, Listowel, on Saturday morning with the Requiem Mass for Breda being celebrated at 10.30am, followed by burial afterwards in St. Michael's Cemetery, Listowel.

DEATH of Gerard Lynch of The Square, Listowel, (former T.D., Senator and Councillor) on 20th December 2025, husband of Margot, father of Mary, Geraldine, Seamus, Paddy, Catherine, Ann, Norma, Bernadette, Mags and the late John. Brother of Kaths Walsh and the late Nora Mary and Lulu Lynch.

DEATH of John Shanahan, Inchinvima, Farranfore, and formerly of Moyvane

on the 6th of December 2025. John is predeceased by his parents, brothers Brendan and Patrick. Sister in law Helen. John is survived by his wife Mary (Slattery). Children, Ethna, Kieran, Barry, Brian, Rory and Orla, his daughters in law Miriam, Caroline and Annika, sons in law Tom Murphy and Mark Balmer. Grandfather of Alicia, Darragh, Oisin, Liam, Kiara, lily, Clodagh, Annie, Pipa, Deirbhile, Rose, Rian and Caoimhe. Requiem Mass was celebrated for John at The Church of St Gertrude on Tuesday. Burial afterwards in Ardcrone Cemetery, Currans.

DEATH of Helen Galvin , (nee Leahy) Carrigeen Castle, Croom, and Knockanure, on the 6th December 2025. DEATH of Sr. Nora Harnett Abbeyfeale, Limerick, on 28th November, 2025. Sr. Nora was from Abbeyfeale, and Mater Hospital Community, Dublin. She is predeceased by her parents William and Mary, her brothers William and Johnny and her sisters Sr. Magdalen, Sr. Agnes and Agnes Cullinane. Sympathy to her nieces and her nephew. DEATH of Con Sheahan, Coil, Listowel and formerly of Leitrim Middle, Moyvane, on November 14th, 2025, Con will be sadly missed by his nieces Bernie, Maura, Mary, Una, Mary, Breda and Jule, nephews Pat, Thomas, Patrick, Noel and James, grandnephews, grandnieces, and sister-in-law Margaret. Requiem Mass for Con was celebrated at The Church of the Assumption, Moyvane, on Monday, followed by burial afterwards in Ahavoher Cemetery, Moyvane.

DEATH has taken place of Noreen Trota Walsh (née Finucane) Listowel, and formally of Knockanure. (Former Honorary Consul General of Ireland to the Philippines. Noreen served as Honorary Consul General of Ireland in Manila for 26 years, carrying out her duties with dignity, dedication and a deep commitment to the Irish community in the Philippines. Noreen (née Finucane), also known as Nora Mary Finucane, of Listowel, and the Philippines, passed away peacefully in Manila, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband, Noni. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her family in Manila; her husband, Bill (Listowel), and his family; her relatives; and her many friends in Ireland and abroad. Noreen will be interred in Manila on 21 November 2025.

A mass to celebrate Noreen’s life will be organised later. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h’anam dílis. Date Published: Tuesday 18th November 2025.

Survived by his brothers Bishop Eddie, Brendan, Maurice, Pascal and Martin, sisters Sheila and Sr. Mary, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, his many nephews and nieces. Requiem Mass for Noel was celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Tarbert, on Thursday November 6th, after which Noel will be laid to rest with his parents in Kilnaughtin Cemetery, Tarbert.

DEATH on 5th of October 2025 of Sister Veronica Sheehan, born Kilbaha 93 years ago. Sr Veronica joined Sisters of St Josephs of Annecy 72 years ago, she died at New Inn Convent. Sister Veronica was well known in the South Wales area for many years in the healthcare ministry. In recent years she lived in Llantarnam Abbey and later in New Inn Community. She spent some years in Zambia also. Sr Veronica was predeceased by her sister Sr. Anne Bernadette.

I am Sr. Veronica. I did my nurse training at St Anthony’s Hospital in Surrey, England and gained my SRN Certificate in 1959. Midwifery training followed at the Bearstead Jewish Hospital, London and South London Hospital qualifying in June 1961.

On completion of midwifery training I joined three other Sisters in our newly-opened Maternity Unit, St. Anne’s, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Newport. To this day mothers speak of the wonderful care they had; so much so they didn't want to return home. The cost was £8.50 for eight days which was covered by the Maternity Grant so that any mother could benefit from it.

When St. Anne’s closed in 1974 I obtained a post in charge of the Maternity Unit at The Middlesex Hospital, London. Several years later I was asked to transfer to Cardiff and from there worked as a community midwife attached to the Heath Hospital.

On retiring from midwifery in 1992 I was asked to go to Fullabantang, Gambia for 4 months; this extended to 7 years. I was sponsored by APSO Ireland and opened an outdoor clinic and creche followed by health programmes in the villages. TRIBUTE to Eddie Stack by Moyvane GAA

All in Moyvane GAA were saddened to hear of the passing of one of our club Vice-Presidents Eddie Stack. Eddie was a 'safe pair of hands' in goals for Moyvane and was an integral part of our senior team winning 4 North Kerry Championship titles in the 1960s. He also was a representative for our club in the Senior County Championship as a member of the St. Vincent's team. When he retired from the playing field, Eddie continued to support the next generation and cheered for the Green and Gold at both Moyvane and Kerry games over the years.

Eddie loved a good sing-song and a call for 'The Butcher' was often made on the Kerry Supporters Bus, followed by rousing renditions of 'My Donegal Shore' or 'My Own Sligo Home'. He was a member of the group who performed on the charity CD ''Songs from the Boro' where he sang with pride of the exploits of 'Newtown v Faha' in the 1st North Kerry Championship Final in 1925 along with 'Newtown v Tarbert' in 1930. We will remember him fondly with a line from one of his favourite songs... T'was friendship brought us here together, T'was friendship made us all unite.

Our sincere condolences to Julia, Noel, Mary, Eamon and all of his extended family.

DEATH of Thomas O’Connor, 1 Lord Edward St, Mountmellick, Co. Laois and late of Shronebeirne, Kilmorna, Listowel, Hospital on Sunday 19th January 2025 after being taken ill suddenly the previous Friday. Thomas is predeceased by his father Jimmy, his mother Betty and his baby sister Carmel. Thomas, adored father, grandfather, brother, uncle and grand-uncle is missed by his son Timothy, daughter-in-law Gemma, his grandchildren, Mireya, Tierni, Cillian and Torryn, his brothers John and Jim, sisters Mary Jo, his twin sister Eileen, Leisha and Trina, his brothers-in-law; Neilus, Eddie, Charles and Conny, sister-in-law Noreen and Jim’s partner Ruth, his nieces and nephews, his aunt-in-law Nora, his girlfriend Rita, his relatives and many friends. Funeral arriving at St. Brigid’s Church, Duagh on Saturday, 25th January, for Requiem Mass at 12.00 p.m. burial in Gale Cemetery, Ballybunion Road, Listowel.

Predeceased by his wife Hannah and parents Bridget and Jerry. Survived by his son Jerry, daughters Mary and Breda, grandchildren Darragh, Samantha, Rachel, Kyle, Rebecca, Aidan and Louise, great-grandson Thomas Jnr., brother Jerry, son-in-law Bunny and daughter-in-law Sharon, Darragh's partner Ruth, sisters-in-law Kathleen Griffin and Margaret O'Regan, nieces, and nephews.
