DEATH of Patsy (Patrick) Barry, Rathronan, Athea, and late of Lisselton, on Saturday, 21st December 2024 at his daughter Mary Anne’s residence, Patsy, husband of the late Mary, survived by daughter Mary Anne, son-in-law Mossie, grandchildren Lizzie and Penny. Requiem Mass was celebrated for him on Monday, 23rd December in St. Bartholomew’s Church Athea followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery Athea.

VISIT the relics of the Millennial Saint, Blessed Carlo Acutis (1991-2006), at Holy Cross Church, Princes Quay, Tralee from Saturday, November 23 to Monday November 25. Carlo Acutis was born in London to Italian parents in 1991 and they moved to Milan shortly afterwards. His parents, at the time, were not regular churchgoers and he was introduced to the faith by a Polish nanny.

William Buckley. He is also predeceased by his infant son Timothy John. DEATH Sinéad Kearney (née O'Brien) Dundrum, Dublin on 4th September 2024, wife of Austin and mother of David and Ronan. Sinéad will be greatly missed by her husband, her sons, her grandchildren Ben, Maya, Lucy, Sam and Evie, her daughters-in-law Julia and Laura, her brother Dulach, her sisters Niamh and Emer, the extended Kearney and O'Brien families.
DEATH of William Hanrahan, age 90, of New Hyde Park, New York passed away on Tuesday August 6th, 2024. He was born in Moyvane, in 1934 to Mary Ellen and Thomas Hanrahan. At the age of 19 he went to go work in England, then onto Canada before settling in New York. He married Bridget McKiernan in April of 1969. Bridget died in January 2006. William is survived by his daughter Kathleen, her husband Ray Mirza and their three children—Laith, Asher and Kaden—of Manhattan; his son Kiernan, his wife Katie and their three children—Liam, Doran and Kellen—of Garden City; and his daughter Kerry Ann, her husband John Kessler and their son—John John—of New Hyde Park.
He is also survived by his brothers Den and Brendan and sister Mary. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen, Con and Tom.

DEATH of Garry Meehan, Ballygologue Park, Listowel and late of Moyvane South, Moyvane, on July 4th, 2024. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Betty. DEATH of Sr. Kyran Prendiville, Presentation Convent, Lixnaw, and formerly of Cloonacurrig, Farranfore, Presentation convents of Milltown and Listowel, died on 28th of June 2024 in her 90th year. Predeceased by her father Maurice, mother Kathy, her sister Peggy and brother Redmund. Sadly missed by the Presentation Sisters, her sister Eileen, sister in-law Eileen, nephew John Maurice, nieces Elaine and Rachael, nephew in-law Connor, her grandnieces and grandnephew.

DEATH of John Joseph “Jack” Moore. Jack was born to James and Bridget (nee McAuliffe) Moore in April of 1931 in Moyvane Village. Jack was predeceased by his brother Tom and sisters Hannah and Mary. He is survived by his sister Breda and 5 step-children from his second marriage, as well as 13 step-grandchildren (who knew him as Papa Jack). He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Jack came to the United States in 1949 and settled in the Bronx. He joined and proudly served in the US Army in the early 1950’s. He worked at commercial bakeries along 11th Avenue in Manhattan for a few years before joining the Paper Handlers Union. He went on to work in the Union, mostly at the New York Times, for 44 years. Jack married his first wife, Joan (nee O’Connell) in 1956. Joan passed away in 1980 and a few years later Jack met and married Norah Crowley Considine. Jack and Norah lived for many years in Rivervale, NJ before her passing in 2019.
Jack was a proud Kerryman and American. He was a religious man and his faith helped him battle his illness over the past few years. He was a quiet, steady, dignified man who loved his family and friends and was much loved by them in return. Mass of Christian Burial for Jack was celebrated on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Holy Name of Mary Church, 114 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, New York. Burial June 24, 2024 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, New York 10532.

DEATH of Imogen Stuart (née Werner) Imogen (late of Sandycove, Co. Dublin) March 24th 2024. mother of Aoibheann and Aisling, and the late Siobhan. Sadly missed by her children, niece Daniela, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many friends, and fellow artists and craftspeople.
Knockanure Church of Corpus Christi Blessed 21 April 1964, contains a wood sculpture of the Madonna and Child by Imogen Stuart and the Stations of the Cross tapestries by Leslie MacWeeney (b. 1936) and the Last Supper panel by Oisín Kelly.

PARISH Gathering; in his Pastoral Letter, “Moving Forward in Hope”, Bishop Ray invites all parishioners to participate in a consultation process to shape the future of pastoral areas and parishes. A consultation gathering will be held in our parish of Moyvane/Knockanure on Tuesday 5th March 2024 at 7.30pm in the Marian Hall, Moyvane. As preparation for the gathering, you are invited to reflect on the following three questions: 1. Without the presence of a priest to lead and coordinate, what aspects of parish life could we, the laity, take responsibility for and organise ourselves? 2. Where do we see scope for cooperation with neighbouring parishes in our pastoral area? 3. Given what Bishop Ray has said about reducing numbers and increasing age, what do we want to say to priests?. There was a good discussion in the Marian hall Moyvane last week, many ideas were floated, mass by live link, with local input, mass being celebrated in the parishes in rotation, Deacons and speedier training for priesthood for older members of the community. DEATH of Father Tom Relihan, late of Kilcara, Foildarrig, Duagh and California. Funeral for Fr.Tom Relihan took place in California. Fr. Tom celebrated his 100th birthday last May.
Father Thomas J. Relihan, a priest of the Diocese of Sacramento for more than 76 years, died on Jan. 6 in Ione. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living priest of the diocese. He celebrated his 100th birthday on May 11, 2023. A vigil service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 14, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Mission Church at 20 Relihan Dr. in Ione. DEATH of Nora (Norry) Hartney, (Nee O'Connor), Carmel, New York and formerly of The Lane, Upper Athea, on the 3rd January, 2024. Predeceased by her husband Michael Hartney, late of Kildimo. Mother to Michael and his wife Anne Marie, Kevin and his wife Eileen and Mary, grandmother to Lauren, Kayla and Fiona. DEATH of Michael Sheehy, Scrahan, Duagh, 29th on December 2023. Michael, son of the late John and Betty, is sadly missed by his sisters Margaret and Nuala, brother Leo, nieces Triona and Kathlyn, nephew John, sister-in-law Bridget, Triona’s husband Graham, grandnephew Jack, and grandniece Emma. DEATH has occurred of Michael (Mickey) O'Flaherty Jnr., Carraig an Phoill, Ballylongford and late of Keylod, on December 27th, 2023. Predeceased by his mother Mary Ellen and his son Michael Daniel. Mickey is survived by his partner Helen, father Mickey, sisters Mary, Helen, Kate, Angela and Liz, brother Tadhg, uncles Dan Joe and Brendan, aunt Helen, godson Darragh, mother-in-law Kathleen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.
